Hermione looked up a moment as Pansy Parkinson walked into the train car. She for a moment She then shook her head and went back to writing in her journal. She decided to put it away and soon deposited it in her handbag and pulled out a book instead.
Pride and Prejudice was clearly etched in the leather bound tome she now held as she opened it and began to read. She knew that soon she would be absorbed in her favorite book and this was the way she most enjoyed spending her leisure tie on the train. She was glad to have the book, otherwise she knew she would be bored and time would seem to stretch forever for her.
Soon she blocked out the nuisance that was Pansy's shrill voice, but not without some difficulties. Pansy was blabbing on telling Draco about her summer and the time or two Hermione paused in her reading, she looked up to see the blank bored expression on Draco's face. She bit her lip and actually for a moment thought that the poor guy must be either glutting for punishment or really cared about his Girlfriend because Hermione knew men didn't want to hear about what color they painted their toenails unless they were homosexual or just into foot fetishes.
For a moment the thought of Draco Malfoy having a foot fetish amused her as she secretly and silently laughed. A small smile graced her lips however despite her keeping the thoughts to herself. She turned the page and was about to read about when Elizabeth went to see her sick sister Jane at the Bingley's when suddenly the book was lifted out of her hands.
Hermione blinked and looked up at the girl holding the book. Pansy was holding the book and looking at Hermione with contempt and loathing in her green eyes.
Are you deaf as well as ugly Mudblood? Leave Draco and I want some private time alone."
"Give me my book Parkinson."
Hermione said as she sighed bored with the attempts of intimidation the other girl tried on her. Truly it annoyed Hermione more than scared her as the song and dance was getting quite a bit old.
"What if I don't?"
Pansy said as she then looked a moment at the book and threw it. it landed outside the window and flew as the train continued to roll and chug onward.
"Oh it seems your book has been misplaced. Why don't you go and fetch it and leave you filthy stupid mud blood know it all?"
Pansy said as she smirked and felt like she had finally put Hermione in her place. She then went to draw her Attention to Draco but froze at Hermione's expression.
Draco saw Granger's eyes widen and he wondered what she was going to do about it. For a moment Hermione said nothing but then she smiled and when she did it was surprisingly scary to see her sneer and smirk almost as good as his own patented Malfoy smirk.
"Aren't you tired of that old routine Parkinson? Mud Blood.. You know what I've gotten rather fond of that word actually. I'm a Mud blood and tell me how can I be stupid and know it all? Why that's as moronic as you thinking I give a damn what you think of me. By the way you vapid cow, I happen to be proud to be a Mud blood as you call it. such barbs will not get a rise out of me. I've been called worse by better person"
As Hermione said this last part she looked at Draco and bowed her head slightly. Draco had to smile as she seemed to him to be have a side that wasn't her usual sunshine and daisies he expected from Granger. When she bowed her head slightly ad with her comment before that, he knew she was showing him respect in the fact that yes he had called her alot worse things in the past and Pansy's open mouthed blank expression showed him that Granger had figured out what even he could not ever in a billion years do.
Hermione Granger had shut Pansy Parkinson's mouth. That alone was a feat to write about. Pansy for a whole minute just blinked and looked at Hermione who was sitting casually and had not a trace of anything but amusement in her manner.
"Close your mouth dear, you might swallow a fly."
Hermione said as she then waved her wand as she approached the window and a book flew to her outstretched hand. As it flew to Hermione Draco noticed it was the book that Pansy had thrown out the window. Hermione looked over the book and then she placed it in her handbag. She then sat down and pulled something else from the bag and put the thing with wires on her ears and turned it on. Draco could hear sounds and bits and pieces of music and wondered what she was doing.
Pansy felt indignant to say the least. The Mud blood wasn't cowering like she was suppose to. In fact it didn't seem to bother her at all did it? Pansy decided she would smack Hermione until she apologized for talking back to her betters. As she went to raise her hand however, two things happened.
Draco watched as Granger had stood up and grabbed Pansy by the throat and pressed her to the wall. As he watched he found himself attracted to the situation. He imagined for a moment that they would make out and he found himself licking his lips as he saw Grangers mouth move but didn't hear her words. Then to his surprise, He found Granger looking at him and to his shock she walked over to where he was sitting and kissed him boldly a moment. To her surprise Draco kissed her back.
