Chapter Four Authors Notes
Running.. there is always a lot of running in the Doctor Who series as well as Torchwood. The Doctor runs a lot and so does his companions. So it starts out with Ianto, Rose and the Doctor running back to the TARDIs as there was trouble. There is almost always trouble when the Doctor is around.
However it wasn't the kin of trouble the Doctor is used to as it wasn't the ending of the universe trouble. Perhaps the Doctor is rethinking taking Rose, Ianto and himself to that planet now.(I know he is.)
Ianto is amazed at what he is seeing at first of course being a Earthling and not an astronaut he has never gone to space or even a alien world. What happens to Ianto is not his fault as will later be revealed. However Ianto is hurt or shall I say targeted by a slave trader who wants him for.. Sex.
They make their way back to the TARDIS and is surprised that a man has followed them and the TARDIS has allowed a stranger to come inside her. He introduces himself as Jax. He also tells him that the creature he was dealing with usually travels in pairs.. hint hint..
Ianto seems to faint and Jax helps him to go and rest but then they both begin kissing etc. Ianto has been hit with an aphrodisiac and coming in and out of consciousness as he and Jax kiss. He sees Jax as Jack and invites the other man to his bed pretty much.
Now as I was writing this I was very tempted to make them do it. But I stopped myself in time. Ianto is a bit vulnerable and Jax is just a sex fiend.
Jax is the original name they were going to give John Barrowman's character Captain Jack Harkness when the character was developed. Also it is never truly revealed what Jack's real name is assumed a persona in the way of a real Captain Jack Harkness and took his name etc.
Jax is revealed at the end of the chapter to Rose by the Doctor that he is in fact Jack but a much younger version then they had met in war world II. Jax is not Jack per say in his matureness or his feelings for Ianto as he demonstrates by making light the fact that they would be intimate. Ianto of course has never seen that side of his Captain nor has anyone spoken to him that way before about sex as just a thing to do etc.
The Doctor intervenes and removes the memory from Jax and Ianto faints and is asleep. Rose stays with Ianto because she's concerned as well as she knows that Ianto is feeling a lot of pain at the moment. Had I allowed Ianto to give in to Jax it would have felt to me as if I had let Jax rape Ianto because in his normal frame of mind he wouldn't have let Jax even touch him. For Ianto Jack is it. It's all about Jack and he is in a sense saving himself for his Captain.
Temporal paradox (also known as time paradox and time travel paradox) is a theoretical paradoxical situation that happens because of time travel. A time traveler goes to the past, and does something that would prevent him from time travel in the first place.
If he/she does not go back in time, he does not do anything that would prevent his traveling to the past, so time travel would be possible for him. However, if he/she goes back in time and does something that would cause him/her to not make a time machine he would not travel back in the first place causing him to make one then go back and not make one. The Doctor theorizes as do I that the time space continuum could be jeopardized if such an event as Jack and Ianto hooking up happened to rewrite the future. The current future for Jack though as all time is being written as we speak, is already set for him to defeat the 456.
The 456 are a race who appeared in Torchwood: Children of Earth. (Season three of the series)
They secretly negotiated with the British government in 1965, and again in 2009. Their designation was given to them by the Human race based on the radio wavelength they favored, and they took the name as their own in their dealings with Humans rather than offering their actual name of their species (if any existed).
They are who kills Ianto. Without going more into this due to plot ideas just know that Jack is now at that point fighting to save the children. Which he will. Anyways bad things happen to Jack in that series. very bad things that will make him more needy of Ianto when they are reunited.
Regardless the Doctor should be there to help but isn't. He can't as it is destiny for Jack and Torchwood to deal with this. That is partially why he hasn't sent Ianto back also Jack's hard decision and what he ends up doing to save the children has already become part of his destiny. So it has to happen.
Don't ask me what it is I won't write that here you will have to wait and see. If you have seen Torchwood Children of Earth, please do not say what happens to Jacks... To Stephen okay? His name is Stephen that is all I will say.
