Chapter Two: Authors Notes and Thoughts
Chapter two deals more from where chapter one began. Ianto is amazed by the TARDIS even though Jack had explained to him about it or tried to.This is where the Doctor and Rose begine to come into focus. Their relationship atleast is now more evident.
The Doctor and Rose are together and in love with each other. They are a couple and Ianto feels that as he sees them together. Also he knows he misses Jack and wishes he was there with him now. As Rose introduces herself to him, he smiles and is polite but also feels a bit of familiarity with her.
Ianto is hurting a bit as he feels Jack's pain and hurt and he wraps the coat around himself to keep from feeling his own pain and adding more to Jack's suffering if he can. In doing this not only is Ianto trying to protect Jack emotionally but also trying to feel closer. It's a bit complicated but he feels so much closer to Jack now.
Rose knows about their feelings for one another. Of how Jack loves Ianto and his fear of hurting again because of it. She knows it's also not her place to tell Ianto about it and is silent on that matter. However the sadness in Ianto turns to disgust and anger as the Doctor explains a few things to him and uses such words as wrong, and Mistake. Ianto tells the Doctor what Jack told him about that and his feelings on the matter that he and Jack are not mistakes.
Ianto in this defends himself and his Captain showing his loyalty but also love for Jack. The Doctor goes on to blame the TARDIS for his being there though in truth it was partly the TARDIS and Rose that made him go get Ianto.
Ianto is angry but when the Doctor mentions the children and Jack trying to save them, Ianto feels guilty. He feels guilty because he knows his Captain needs to save lives and he, Ianto is being selfish to insist that Jack doesn't do his work.
The Doctor doesn't know what to do with Ianto so he tries to appease his sense of duty and it works. Ianto is appeased only because what the Doctor says makes sense to him and he sighs feeling a bit disappointed in not going right back to Jack but also good that he is helping Jack defeat the 456 by staying safe himself.
The Doctor makes a quip about Barcelona, a planet where dogs have no noses. I used it to try and bring a bit of the Doctors sense to the audience. So off they go thought not to Barcelona .. That is actually a quote from Doctor Who Season One: Episode Thirteen I believe. He makes that quip right before he ends up regenerating into the tenth doctor. They that is Rose and the Doctor have been there a few times now but they go somewhere else. Why..
(Well you will find out in chapter five as the Doctor did not exactly have the full control of the TARDIS and he never really does as he is the only pilot and it's meant to have six but he's awesome that way and very flexible too.)
