Draco woke up the next morning and was careful not to wake up a sleeping Hermione. For a moment he just looked at her. Asleep, vulnerable. A small smile on her lips and she was peaceful. She looked to him like she held an innocence in her slumber.
He knew however she looked this woman was far now from being innocent. He dressed in a pair of jean shorts and decided to take a walk on the beach to clear his mind. He was in love. In love with Hermione Granger a Muggleborn. He was not stupid enough to try and deny his feelings to himself anymore.
He knew that they were very different and yet she was the perfect Malfoy bride. Beautiful and powerful and loving and yet the only thing that made her inferior in the eyes of his Father and Mother was her heritage. The fact she was a Gryffindor could be overlooked but her blood. His Parents would never forgive him. He knew this and yet a part of him didn’t care what they felt.It was his life afterall.
Here on the Island they were simply a man and woman, simply Draco and Hermione and simply both loved each other. He knew that he loved her and she had admitted to him even if se had said it when he was sure she thought he was asleep. For a moment Draco allowed himself to imagine it all. Their life as a couple. Their wedding and their marriage and their children. Yes he deffinently wanted more than one child with this incredible woman. He didn’t see their children as heirs but as people, as parts of their loves and their selves for the world to see and know.
He took a moment to wonder when he had become so sappy as the last bit was something he would think a Nancy boy would say, someone poetic and romantic. Things he knew he was not. Yet he thought it and for a moment wondered just how deeply was he infected with this thing called love.
He for a moment kicked a coconut on the ground as he looked at the ocean. The sun was rising and he just sighed as he wondered what he was going to do. Obviously he had to make a decision soon. Should he tell her? Should he chance it? What would happen when they were rescued? Would he be able to go back to how he was before? Did he even want to?
Did he want to give up everything he ever known for the love of this bushy haired witch? His heart told him yes and his mind was uncertain but it did not say no. He was for the moment in thought so deeply he did not hear her calling his name nor did he sense her approach him until he felt the hand on his shoulder and flinched a moment in surprise and startlement.
“Draco are you alright? I woke up and you were gone and I saw you standing here..”
Hermione asked this as she looked up at him. His hair was a bit longer than he usually kept it and his bangs fell into his eyes a bit. He had a far away look in his eyes and when he looked at her now she thought he seemed lost. In the next moment he did not speak but she saw chaos and emotions swirling in depths of his storm gray eyes. As he looked at her he felt every emotion begin to swirl inside him. Felt himself wanting to confess his feelings and he decided to tell her in that moment…
“I…”
Draco began as he instead of finding his voice leaned down and kissed her. As their lips descended on each others, he allowed the passion and feelings he kept bottled up inside flowing through him. Wordlessly he lifted her and kissed her more feverishly. Soon he had kissed over her entire body and without a word given into his desires. He placed a final kiss to her lips as he lay on his side and looked at her. Sand covered both of their naked bodies as they had laid there
on the beach.
In that moment the words were on his tongue as he looked at her. Hermione’s breath was hitched but she said not a word as she watched him.
Hermione saw the look in his eyes and his confusion but also something else in that moment. She told herself it wasn’t possible but he was looking at her like her Father used to look at her Mother before she became a witch. When her parents still loved each other and were happy together. She letthe breath slowly out as she realized he was looking at her this way. Howevershe told herself it had to be lust, that or something other than love. He couldnot love her. Also she hoped he hadn’t figured out her feelings towards him.
Draco allowed himself to let his feelings become unguarded in that moment. He knew that if he told her at this moment it would beperfection. He knew that he would mean it and the words he would never takeback. He opened his mouth to speak when he heard the Wolf make a half growl half barking sort of howl and he turned to look at him.
Shadow stood and to their surprise, it seemed another wolf came out of the forest. This one however did not seem to notice the humans as Shadow ran over and licked the other wolf’s muzzle and to both Hermione’s and
Draco’s surprise started mating with her.
“It seems Shadow has a lady friend”
Hermione said finally breaking the silence between them as she caught her breath and the spell from before was broken. Draco nodded and he kissed her lips slowly moment.
“It seems he has the right idea. I mean if you want to you know go again?”
As he asked this he saw her smile and nod and he kissed her more boldly. The afternoon came with them laughing and teasing each other and sitting together at the edge of the house, Draco’s arm around her and
Hermione’s head on his shoulder.
“If we never leave this island will you be my wife Hermione?”
Draco asked suddenly as it surprised himself as well as Hermione who looked at him now. Hermione heard the sadness reflected in his voice and not the happiness she had hoped that he would have said those words with.
“If we never leave the island.. Yes. I know that we may never go back to England, back to being where we were and.. I want you to know that I love being here with you and if we never go back I can see myself not being unhappy we are here together Draco.”
Hermione answered truthfully and Draco let out a sigh of relief.
“Draco what if we left the island after.. “
Hermione began but couldn’t finish her thoughts aloud.
“Then I don’t know Hermione. I mean I would like to say that we’d date or we’d stay friends but you know that isn’t liable to happen. I mean as it is we’re just friends now right? We have fun with each other and have mutual respect for each other. In that world we aren’t allowed those things are we? In that world I suppose what we are doing here would be considered wrong by at least my parents eyes and yours as I’m sure they want you to marry a normal man who isn’t a wizards right? “
As Draco asked this he could have slapped himself as he saw the tears started to fill Hermione’s eyes as she nodded and he saw one roll down her cheek before she turned away to look at the ocean and the setting sun.
“Did you want me to lie and say that we’d live happily ever after? We would get married and have children. Live in London and be happy Hermione? Did you want me to tell you that I want to be with you and that I would go against everything I have ever believed in because we’re fucking? Seriously? Hermione do you want me to say those words? You confuse the hell out of me and make me feel things I’ve never felt before okay I admit that. But I won’t say it as I don’t know what it is and even if I do I can’t.. we can’t... ”
As Draco said this he realized he had all but said it after all and he turned to look at her and say exactly what the words in his heart were screaming at him to say when he saw she had gotten up and was walking towards the edge of the water now.
“You should marry someone because you love them not because they are convient. That’s all I am saying Hermione.”
As he said this he walked away and as he did she looked at him in question as she wondered if he felt that way then why had he asked her to marry him in the first place. Suddenly it hit her as she watched him walking towards the house. His words their meaning and what they had done earlier. How he had been gentle and caring for her needs before giving into his own. How he had looked at her., it began to add up and she knew in that moment what he didn’t say.
