Chapter Eight: A Truce is accepted
For a moment Hermione just stared at Draco without moving a muscle or making a sound. Draco looked at her curiously when he began to repeat what he had said to her.
“I purpose we have a truce Granger. Because we are not going to survive long if we are arguing and bickering are we? “
As Draco said this Hermione nodded and her eyes for a moment went to his and she quickly looked down before in her mind Draco realized what she was thinking.
“Deal because it makes more sense after all. “
Simply this Hermione replied as she for a moment licked her lips and looked back up at Draco and met his eyes with her brown ones.
Draco took in her reaction with surprise. He was sure she was going to scream or have a fit and call it unfair and yet, for a moment he just saw the surrender in the brunette’s doe colored eyes and he nodded back."Alright, i think the first thing we should do is find some sort of shelter for the night as it will be dark soon and obviously we are nowhere near any civilized dwelling to speak of so..."
As he began Hermione got up and she walked over to some drift wood and looked at it. Draco began to feel his temper for a moment flare up as he watched her seemingly to ignore him for the moment. "Granger what do you think you are doing?"
Draco said as he walked over to where she was half bent over looking at a large piece of wood and he growled a moment to himself. "Well Malfoy I am looking to see if this piece of drift wood is dry enough to try and start a fire. What else or reason would I be bent over like this?"
Hermione asked this and Draco looked down as he realized he was slightly towering over her bent form at the moment and he bit his lip not to give the crude response he was apt to answer. However the thought crossed his mind as clear as day..
:: Well you could be bent like that and screaming my name in pleasure as I shagged your brains out!...::
Draco swore and looked away at the sun setting over the ocean a moment. As he did this Hermione took no notice and continued to look for scraps of drift wood. After a few minutes she called over to him. "Well Malfoy are you going to help me with this?"
As she said this Hermione was gathering stones from the edge of the forest and Draco turned to look at her and curiously wondered what she was now doing. "Draco, the names Draco and what are you doing Hermione?"
As he asked this he walked over and was surprised when Hermione placed a pile of rocks in his arms and she tilted her head towards where he had just moments ago been standing. "Over there is a perfect spot now to make a circle with these stones.. Hmmm I hope there is enough wood as the night will probably get chilly.."
She was saying this out loud as she was thinking of the possibilities. Draco just watched her and for the most part he put down the rocks and made the circle she asked for. Next he watched her as she took a pile of the drift wood piece by piece and made a pyramid standing in the middle of the circle.
Draco watched her a moment and wondered what she was doing."Hermione may I ask what you are doing?"
Draco asked this in curiosity not in a tone that belayed anything but and she looked up at him a moment. Her face contorted with sweat and she took a calming breath. As she did this for a moment she wiped her forearm across her forehead and stepped back and began to fumble in her handbag. "Well I am going to get a fire going as it's going to be cold soon and it's going to be dark. Now I know I have a box of matches in here somewhere. Let me see. Oh yes here they are and good I still have half a box."
Hermione had replied this as Draco watched her rummage through her bag and was surprised as she put her arm in elbow deep and feel around then bring out a small box and open it to reveal some short sticks he had never seen before with red tips on them. "Granger what the hell are those and how are two little sticks going to make a fire?"
As he asked this he saw her placing what looked like leaves from the palm tree around the small triangle of sticks and he watched as she stroke one of the matches against the box and to his surprise a flame started and she used the grass and palm tree leaves to get the fire going. "Well Draco I am starting a fire. You’ve never seen matches before have you? Sorry I forgot they are a Muggle invention and you wouldn't have known what they are."
As she said this she let a little disappointment enter her voice as she blew on the red hot embers starting to take hold of the wood and Draco just watched her a moment thinking about what she had just said to him."Actually, I do know what matches are but I've never seen them outside a book or used them before. I suppose it is nice you have them about and all. "
Draco told her after a moment and it was as close to an apology as he knew he would make her. Not that he had anything to be sorry about.
For a while both just sat there in their thoughts and then to Hermione's surprise Draco pulled a pack of fags out of his coat pocket and took a palm frond and light the end of it. Then he set the frond in the fire and took a calming breath.
Hermione watched him a moment and then got up and walked over closer to him. Draco gave her a challenging look as he knew she was going to take the cigarette from him and probably ruin it by throwing it in the fire or the ocean.
As he had these thoughts on his mind however, to his surprise she took the fag out of his mouth looked at it a moment and then took a drag off of it and handed it back to him and sat down next to him and closed her eyes.
For a moment there was total silence and Draco just looked at the fag and then back to her and then took another drag and wordlessly handed it back to her.
Hermione opened her eyes and looked at him and nodded and took another drag and then she said quietly."Let me guess you figured I’d give you hell about smoking right? Truth is, I know it's bad but right now I need something to keep me calm so let's not talk about it okay Draco?"
As she said this she handed the cigarette back to him and then sat with her knees against her chest and looked at the fire. Draco didn't reply but finished the cigarette and then he pulled out a small bag from his coat pocket.
Draco then to his surprise as well as hers to the gesture placed his coat on her shoulders."I have some Fizzing Whizbees and I know it's not much but here have a few."
As he held out the bag with a few in it left he popped one into his mouth and closed his eyes a moment.
Hermione took the candy and popped one in her mouth and for a moment just wrapped the jacket a bit more around her and inhaled the scent from the material.
Draco opened one of his eyes and looked at her and just for a moment he relaxed and noticed her eyes were also closed. He let his eyes linger over her face a moment.
::She’s not bad looking, overall she’s fit and curvy where I like women to be.::
Draco thought this as then his eyes fell to look at her lips and he unconsciously licked his own and took a calming breath.
::She kisses really good and tasted like strawberries. I wonder why she kissed me back or why I kissed her to begin with. I mean I’m not saying the woman is not attractive but she’s a Granger and I’m a Malfoy and we shouldn’t do that right? ::
This thought entered his mind as he then looked up realizing Hermione had been asking him something and she was rummaging through her little bag. The sun had set and it had grown dark around them other than the fire light they sat around. “I’m sorry Hermione, what was that? My mind was on other things.”
Draco told her honestly as he was handed a bag of things that he had to look at and confused him.
Hermione looked up and smiled. “Trail mix, you’ll like it. I have thankfully some with me and a few bottles of water as well. However we need to consume those slowly until we find a better source of food. It’s dried fruit mostly with some granola and nuts. You’re not allergic to peanuts are you Draco?”
As Hermione was telling him this it occurred to her that people were sometimes allergic to peanuts and despite the fact they had a tentative truce going on and that Draco was a guy who had tormented her for the last seven years, she didn’t want him to get sick and or die and leave her alone on this deserted island.
Draco chuckled a moment and shook his head.“Nope, not allergic to anything that I know of. Why are you offering me this though?”
Draco asked not to seem too ungrateful but he wanted to know why she was being so human towards him and not screaming her head off as she normally did in his presence. True, to his credit he wasn’t hexing her or she wasn’t hexing him at the moment.Hermione was quiet a moment as she was thinking of exactly how to answer his question.
She wanted to not offend him or tell him that he was obviously not prepared at all or that he was a spoiled rich brat. So she said trying to be logical.“Well I figure that you shared your Fizzing Whizbees with me, that I should share my trail mix with you. Besides I think we should both see what we have with us and go from there. I have pillows and a blanket and some trail mix, my trunk and…”
She stopped talking as she was pulling things out of the small bag and then after a few minutes she took a breath and looked down at all the things .Draco was astounded as he saw she indeed had her trunk and other items he was slightly curious about.
He for a moment picked up a small silver and purple box and opened it. Hermione who was laying out the blanket didn’t see this as Draco was holding a tampon by the string and looking at it. “Granger this is stupid. I mean rope attached to. What the hell is this thing? I mean if it’s some sort of rope why did you shrink it like this?”
As he asked this Hermione snatched the tampon from his fingers and closed the box and she for a moment just stared at him. As she did Draco finally noticed her face was red and wondered why she would blush at that.“Draco those are tampons, they are for when I get my period. So we won’t be sharing those.”
Draco was silent a moment and then he asked her.“Do you have it right now? This period you speak of it’s like when a woman menstruates right?”“No and Yes, I don’t have my period right now no, but yes that’s they are for Draco.”
Draco just nodded without another word and he went to emptying his pockets and then he saw Hermione’s eyes widen as he removed the knife from his boot and lay it on the blanket.“In my coat pocket are my fags and my wallet and what? Granger what is that look for?”
As Draco asked this Hermione just looked at him then the knife and she asked quietly.“You have a knife? I mean it’s a good thing you do but why carry a knife in your boot?”
As she asked this Draco to her surprise just chuckled and shook his head. He for a moment couldn’t help it.“Be happy I do. I guess it’s because when we were in the war. I needed a way to protect myself that was in case I lost my wand. Granger why are you shocked? I mean it’s a normal knife not a cursed blade.”
As he said this for a moment he noticed she was rubbing her right for arm and he groaned. “If I wanted to kill you or hurt you I would have already. You can trust me. And I think I can trust you as we are going to need each other’s help to survive here until Blaise comes and looks for us. I’m sure by now people are wondering where we are and looking for us. I would not be surprised if Saint Potter found us by tomorrow or next week at the latest.”
As Draco said this a bit of agitation entered his voice as he was sure that they, Harry and Ron would be looking for Hermione and then finding a way to blame him for their current location.“I trust you Draco. I know you wouldn’t. I just do you blame me for not liking them? After what your crazy bitch of an Aunt did to me?”
As Hermione asked this Draco put down the knife and he threw another bit of drift wood on the fire and he didn’t comment. It took him a moment to digest that she, Hermione Granger said she trusted him.“No honestly I can’t blame you as she was a crazy murderous bitch and she tortured people for fun .In my left pocket there is a pack of fags go ahead and have one and relax a bit. I’m going to. I need a moment alone. “
Draco put back on his boots and went a moment to stand by the surf and look out at the ocean. His back was turned to Hermione who was watching him and she decided to go and hand him the cigarettes when Draco replied.“You don’t want to come over here right now Hermione.”
As he said this he just stared into the water’s edge and tried to relax. Draco looked down at his pants and groaned. He unzipped his fly and began to pee into the water’s edge. As he did this he closed his eyes a moment.
Hermione blushed as she realized what he was doing and she for a moment just bit her lip and then she replied to him.“Alright but you don’t look I have to also and there aren’t many bushes around here so just… “
As she said this she gasped as Draco’s profile was a moment illuminated from the light of the moon coming out from behind the clouds and she swallowed and looked away.
Draco saw her expression out of the corner of his eye and wondered why she was redder than she had been earlier. He zipped his pants and saw she was over behind a tree and he let her do her business and when she came back she was to his relief less red and calmer now. He lit the cigarette and took a drag and handed it to her. “We’re adults Hermione. Until we find a way to get off this Island I hope we both can feel less embarrassed about certain things.”
As he said this he took off his shirt to Hermione’s surprise and he handed it to her.
“What are you doing Malfoy?”
Hermione asked this as he went to remove his trousers and stopped.“Well I figure that if I was to go swimming, I don’t want to wear wet clothes all night. So I’m taking off my pants. I figure if you want to join me you can use my shirt or just go naked.”
As he said this Hermione for a moment was quiet and looked around and she turned her back as she said.“Alright but don’t look.”“Alright I won’t look Granger; however you should know I have no problems with you seeing me naked. Its natural people bathe naked.”“People don’t usually bathe in the ocean Draco.”"I think we don't have much choice of the matter Hermione.""I guess your right."
By the time Hermione said this she looked over and he standing there completely naked. Hermione got a good view of his backside as he chuckled and turned to look at her. Hermione dropped her eyes to the sand.
To Hermione’s utter horror and surprise he began to walk closer to her and she was still looking down at the sand when he placed a hand on her chin and lifted her face to look up in his eyes.“Let me guess you’ve never seen a man naked right?”
Hermione just stood there looking up at him. She went to look down and away and then gasped and her head shot back up and she looked at him.
Draco just chuckled and he took the light cigarette out of her hand and took a drag off of it a moment.“As you can see plainly if you want to, I have nothing to hide Granger. I’m not ashamed of what Merlin blessed me with.”
As Draco said this two things happened as a growl was heard and the next thing Draco knew he was on his back in the sand and Hermione was laying on him. Her arms wrapped around him and shaking like a leaf. Draco groaned as he looked at her and rolled her underneath him and kissed her.

I just added chapter nine and in the middle of ten so yeah soon. I know that right now things are kinda slow but I am working up to them. Thank you for the comment and reading Blessed be <3
